Eliminate Tonsil Stones with Diet

In order to relieve or sometimes eliminate the effects of tonsil stones, there are several rules you should follow:

The information I’ve collected here came from this comprehensive tonsil stone program.

  • Drink plenty of water.  There are two main reasons why drinking lots of water can help you dealing with tonsil stones:  One – water keeps your organism hydrated and ready to fight infections and diseases and Two – drinking plenty of water means you’re staying away from soda and other sugar laces drinks. Sugar promotes tonsil stones, so stay away!

  • Stay away from caffeine.   Studies done by major universities point to caffeine as a contributing factor to the development of totonsilloliths
  •

  • Try to limit dairy products, or best yet remove it completely from you diet.  Dairy products increase the build up of mucous and calcium, which are both components of tonsil stones.
  • Reduce the amount of protein-rich foods, such as peanut butter, fish, eggs and rice.
  •

  • Make sure your last meal is at least 30 minutes or more before you bed time.  Any left over food particles will bond to your tonsil during the night and since there isn’t any liquid to wash them down will calcify and become tonsil stones.
  •

  • FInally, limit your consumption of alcohol, including alcohol based mouthwash.  Alcohol aggravates your tonsils, which in turn aggravate your tonsil stones.  Here’s a good
    non-alcohol based mouthwash
    you can use.

Please use this guide if you need more information.
