Finally the last term we are going to talk about is “tonsil stone”, which is in fact not a misspelling of tonsil stones at all. The misconception here lays in that tonsil stones really occur in quantities of just one, so when most people think of those pesky white specs in their throats, they think of “stones”, not “stone”.
